This research was to explore the effect of applying podcast by Spotify as learning media on students’ listening comprehension at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Mustaqim. The focus of the study was to describe the student’s listening comprehension before and after applying podcast by Spotify, and its significant to the students’ listening comprehension.
It was pre-experimental research with a pre- and post-test with a total of 30 participants, consisting of class XI IPS 1. The data for this research were collected using tests. The data were analyzed using paired sample t-test.
The research found as follows. The pre-test revealed an average score 60.67, in several sessions, The post-test revealed an average score 72.83. A paired sample t-test was conducted to evaluate the effect of podcast by Spotify on student’ listening comprehension, resulting in a significance level of 0.002. which is less than 0.05. indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. The correlation between pre-test scores and podcast usage was strong at 0.543.
