This research stated three objectives were to explore the principles to implement the Emancipated Curriculum, the Channels to implement the Emancipated Curriculum, and the impact of the Emancipated Curriculum implementation.
The research was qualitative with a case study design. Its data were collected applying in-dept interviews with the vice head of curriculum affairs and English teachers as primary data sources. The data were also collected using documents. Data analysis applied Miles and Huberman’s interactive analysis technique, which consists of data reduction, data display, and data verification.
This study found out that the Emancipated Curriculum at Mujahidin High School has been successfully implemented through three main principles: independence and creativity in learning (small dictionary, cooking demonstrations, healthy lifestyle posters, and making folk handicrafts), making connection between students' needs – job demands (conducting “market day”, and playing), and Teacher’s roles as facilitators (creating teaching modules, active mentoring in Project-Based Learning, and teacher training). The implementation was carried out independently implement under the Department of Education with support from learning objectives, learning outcomes, and teaching modules. The impact of the Emancipated Curriculum implementation shows three positive outcomes: positive feedback from school principals and teachers regarding the setting of learning objectives and fostering independence, improved teaching quality through adaptive and project-based learning approaches, and enhanced student learning outcomes reflected in the 2024 Education Report with good scores in literacy, numeracy, character, safety-diversity, and learning effectiveness.
