Assuming that the skimming affected students' reading comprehension, this research aimed to describe students' mean score before the treatment taken its place, students' mean score after the treatment, and the significance of skimming on students' reading comprehension.
Employing a pre-experimental research with a one-group pre-post test design, the research involved 39 students from class VIIIA. Findings indicated that the mean score before the treatment was 47.62 and after the treatment was 58.97. The paired sample t-test indicated that skimming significantly affected students' reading comprehension by 0.000 In addition, it was revealed that skimming indicated high effect size 0.744 on students' reading comprehension.
In conclusion, this research found out that the skimming proved to highly and significantly effect the reading comprehension. However, this research needed further study either in a quasi- or true- experiment. It was expected that by doing so it could reveal more evidences regarding the effect of skimming on the reading comprehension. |
