dc.description.abstract Dewie Diva Syafitri, 12117056. The Effect of Games Based Learning to Increase Student’s Interest at XI Grade Student of SMA Bina Utama Pontianak in the 2025/2026 Academic year. Thesis (S1) English Tadris Study Program (TBI). Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty (FTIK). Pontianak State Islamic Institute (IAIN). Year 2025 This study aims to analyze the impact of Games Based Learning on increasing student interest in learning in class XI at SMA Bina Utama Pontianak. The background of this study is based on low student interest, which is caused by monotonous conventional teaching methods. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design involving one group with pre-test and post-test assessments. The research subjects consisted of 33 XI grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and Pre test and Post tests, and analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, and percentage score increase calculations. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' interest and ability to speak English after the implementation of Games Based Learning. The average score increased from 52.9 on the pre-experimental test to 69.9 on the post-experimental test, reflecting an increase of 32.1%. The validity test showed that all items in the instrument were valid, and the reliability test produced a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.734, indicating good internal consistency. Based on these findings, it is concluded that Games Based Learning is an effective, valid, and reliable method for improving students' confidence and participation in English language learning. Based on the research findings, it is recommended that English teachers consistently apply Games Based Learning to increase students' interest, participation, and confidence in speaking. Schools are also encouraged to support the use of innovative, interactive, and enjoyable teaching methods. Meanwhile, students are expected to actively participate in games Based activities to increase their interest in learning. For future researchers, this study can be expanded by increasing the sample size, duration, or applying it to other English learning. en_US
