This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Google Sites as an interactive learning medium in improving the vocabulary mastery of 7th grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Pontianak and to analyze the significance of its impact. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was used, involving 75 students divided into two groups: 37 students in class VII A (control group) and 38 students in class VII B (experimental group). The research instruments included a pre-test and post-test consisting of multiple-choice and matching-word questions. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 29.
The results showed that students in the experimental class, who were taught using Google Sites, achieved an average pre-test score of 51.45 and a post-test score of 84.21. Meanwhile, the control group’s average score improved from 47.57 to 62.70. The independent samples t-test showed a significant difference between the two groups at a 5% significance level (p < 0.001), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.801). These findings indicate that Google Sites is an effective and meaningful tool for enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery in English learning. |
