This research was to explore the effect of applying the pictorial sequence in
writing recount text on eighth graders of MTs Negeri 1 Pontianak. The research
questions are follows. First, what are the student's scores before the implementation
of writing recount texts with pictorial sequence? Second, what are the student's
scores after the implementation of recount text with pictorial sequence? Third, how
significant is a pictorial sequence in teaching writing recount texts?
It was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-and post-test design. The
research participants were 72 students from classes VIII D and VIII E. The data for
this research were collected using tests, interviews, and documentation. The data
were analyzed using the Independent sample T-test.
This research is found as follows. First, the students' writing scores before
implementing Pictorial Sequence on Writing Recount Text showed a total score of
2,508 with an average of 69.67, ranging from the lowest score of 63 to the highest
score of 77. Second, the student's writing scores after implementing Pictorial
Sequence on Writing Recount Text demonstrated a total score of 2,916 with an
average of 81.00. Third, the significance of the Pictorial Sequence on students'
Writing Recount Text indicated a statistically significant effect with a p-value of
0.000 (p < 0.05) and a mean difference of 3.583 between experimental and control
groups. |
