Abstract:
The tradition of saprahan is a cultural heritage of people that have shed blood and evidence as a historic relic that still remains intact for evidence of its unique nature, the saprahan tradition is also found in other areas such as the singkawang town community, the pawing district, bengkayang which researchers still prefer sambas district in order to study the saprahan traditions of the sambas district, And also to find out how this saprahan tradition is in the Malay culture of sambas district. The tradition of the saprahan consists of 6 people and forms a circular position with washing water, rice, side dishes, and drinking water in the middle. This tradition is not limited to traditional or family events such as weddings, fun and other events, it also becomes one of the cultures that can be done within the family circle such as eating together or tearing in the home. Prior to the operation of the saprahan, before the food was served, there were first steps at the time of entering the house of the host the people one by one to do handshakes and then the rural priest’s rule called “Mr. Lebai” continued to recite the prayer and then finish the meal that was provided.
