dc.description.abstract Ashila Dwi Farida, 2025. “The Effect of ‘One Day, One Sentence’ Strategy on Vocabulary Mastery of Daily Activities in Class VII at SMPN 1 Nanga Pinoh”. Thesis (S1) Tadris English Study Program (TBI). Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTIK). State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) of Pontianak, Advisor I: Nanik Shobikah, M.Pd. Advisor II: Vibry Andina Nurhidayah, M.Hum. The most basic thing that needs to be done in learning English is to understand and master vocabulary. The more vocabulary is mastered by a learner, the easier to learn the other four English skills. This study was conducted to determine the influence of the application of the 'one day one sentence' strategy in improving students' vocabulary mastery in grade VII of SMPN 1 Nanga Pinoh. The purpose of this study was to investigate: (1) students’ vocabulary mastery before applying the 'one day one sentence' strategy; 2) students’ vocabulary mastery after applying the 'one day one sentence' strategy; 3) the significance effect of the application of the 'one day one sentence' strategy on students' vocabulary mastery. This research was a quantitative study that employed a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study consisted of all seventh-grade students, with a research sample of 32 students from class VII E and 32 students from class VII F. Data collection techniques were carried out through pre-tests and post-tests in both the experimental class (VII E) and the control class (VII F). The statistical calculations in this study used IBM SPSS version 29. The results of this research showed that most students get better scores after treatment. The average pre-test score of students in the experimental class was 47,5 and the average post-test score of the experimental class was 77,67. Meanwhile, the control class got an average score of 42,81 in the pre-test and 55,47 in the post-test. The results of the statistical hypothesis test showed that at the significance level of 5%, the significance value (2-tailed) was <0,001 which means it was less than 0,05. In addition, the value of the effect size on the t-test was 1,395. So, it could be concluded that the ‘One Day, One Sentence’ strategy in learning English was effective and successful in increasing students' vocabulary mastery. en_US
